Weight loss medication isn't covered — now what?
If you want to lose weight with medical support in the Netherlands in 2026, you hit a wall: most branded medications are not covered by your health insurance. Zorginstituut Nederland advised against reimbursing the weight-management GLP-1 in July 2024 and started a reassessment in July 2026; no decision date has been published.
That means: paying everything out of pocket. And that adds up fast.
