Compounding pharmacy near me: how do you find one?
How do you find a licensed compounding pharmacy in the Netherlands yourself, and what should you look for — BIG registration, IGJ inspection, facilities? Magistra does not operate a pharmacy finder; we publish independent GLP-1 data.
The problem: compounding pharmacies are hard to find
There are more than 150 compounding pharmacies in the Netherlands, but most people don't know they exist. They don't advertise, they don't run Google ads, and most GPs don't refer patients to them.
If you search for "compounding pharmacy near me" you probably won't find much. This article explains what to look for so you can find and vet one yourself.
What should you look for in a compounding pharmacy?
Not every pharmacy can prepare compounded medications. A good compounding pharmacy has:
BIG registration
The pharmacist must be registered in the BIG register. You can verify this at the BIG register.
Specialisation in compounding
Look for pharmacies that specifically focus on compounding — not every pharmacy with a BIG number offers this service.
Proper facilities
A compounding pharmacy has a dedicated preparation room with the right equipment, ventilation and hygiene protocols.
IGJ inspection
Check that the pharmacy is inspected by the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate.
What Magistra actually offers
Magistra does not operate a pharmacy-finder or matching service — we don't pre-verify pharmacies or arrange a programme for you. What we publish is independent GLP-1 safety and effects data: check our free predictor tool for a personalised view of expected side effects and outcomes before choosing a pharmacy and discussing it with your own doctor.
